The history of Maison Lecompte began in 1923 with Alexandre Lecompte, a wine and spirits merchant in Normandy, who decided to sell his business to devote himself entirely to developing and marketing his old stock of calvados.
In 1945, his son Alexandre took over the family business and two years later invested in the first traditional still of the Maison. His desire was to create the most exceptional Calvados Pays d'Auge.
Maison Lecompte has its roots in the heart of the Pays d'Auge.
In this region, blessed by the gods, the best apple orchards of Normandy are planted. Its terroir and unique climatic conditions offer them a magnificent garden to thrive.
The Pays d'Auge is also the cradle of'horse breeding and racing in France.
About 300 horse farms surround our wineries. These farms, which train some of the best thoroughbreds in the world, share with us the values of patience, transcendence and the continuous quest for excellence.
