Durin is a family-run business that has distant origins, when at the end of the 19th century Isidoro Basso decided to cultivate a first plot of land in the Arroscia Valley, an area rich in history, culture and beautiful natural landscapes. And it was here, in the municipality of Ortovero, where the Basso family originated, that Isidoro sowed the seeds of what years later would become the Durin winery, and which owes its name to him - a man of imposing bulk whom everyone in the village ironically calls 'Isidurin' (isidorine). As often happens in these parts, in Liguria as elsewhere, cultivated land is passed down over the years from father to son. The current winery, located in Ortovero in the province of Savona, was founded in 1978 by Antonio Basso, the third generation of winegrowers in his family. Today the vineyards extend over 17 hectares, mostly terraced, in the Arroscia Valley. The main indigenous varieties of western Liguria are cultivated, thanks to a very special microclimate, influenced by the hills and the sea just 7 kilometres away. A family that in its production combines tradition and innovation to obtain wines with a unique character.

Description

Géva is a pure Pigato, produced with grapes from the company's vineyards in Ortovero and Ponterotto. Modern in concept, it proudly bears the words 'without added sulphites' on the label. To achieve this, vinification must be particularly careful and the grapes must arrive in the cellar perfect. Hence, they warn from the cellar, a small deposit at the bottom of the bottle is to be considered quite natural.

Organoleptic characteristics:

straw yellow colour with warm golden hues. Intense, enveloping bouquet, characterised by notes of fruit and aromatic herbs including sage, thyme and rosemary. The taste is soft, long lasting with an elegant hint of almond.

Storage time:

2-4 years

Vinification

Dynamic maceration of whole bunches at low temperature. Temperature-controlled fermentation. Exploitation of the gases of fermentation to saturation of the tank. Batonnage on fine lees for several months. Natural clarification by decantation and storage at controlled temperature in steel. No addition of sulphur dioxide or chemicals either in clarification or at bottling. A small deposit is to be considered completely natural.
