Edi Kante , master of an art that with continuous experimentation and innovation creates products distinguished by a freshness and elegance found only in the authenticity and purity of nature. A bit of a craftsman and a bit of an inventor, in 1980 he fell in love with the Karst, a small strip of land that stretches from the slopes of the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea, and sensing its great winemaking potential he decided to found his own winery in Duino Aurisina, in the province of Trieste, creating a cellar arranged on several levels and dug into the natural rock, thus having the perfect temperature and the right humidity to store their bottles in the most correct way. The winery today covers about 17 hectares of vineyards, characterized by a rocky-calcareous soil, rough and difficult to tame, where acidity and minerality become typical characteristics of the wines, and where each vine struggles for survival, making its way through the stony surface. A Mediterranean climate, mild and sunny, but with fresh continental influences, thanks to the Bora that often blows violently from the northeast. An environment in which it is not easy for vines to survive, yet they naturally produce few grapes of exceptional quality. Edi Kante's journey in the world of wine has gone through several stages: from experiments with maceration on the skins, to the use of barriques, and then to classic white winemaking, aimed at obtaining wines that are floral, fruity and endowed with remarkable sapidity and freshness, stylistic figures of the territory. Both native and international grape varieties, such as vitovska, malvasia, teran and pinot noir, are grown in the estate vineyards.

Description

"Hidden, elegant, unmistakable," our old-timers placed Vitovska rows in the front row to the northeast because with their resistance they were the protectors of all other varieties against the Bora. This is how Edi Kante defines Vitovska, a 'grape native to Slovenia and widespread throughout the Karst region. The Friulian white that expresses itself with distinct freshness and savoriness on the palate. A label with which the Friulian winery Kante is winning, with excellent scores, in the main Italian wine guides.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Typical pale straw yellow. Fresh spring notes, delicate floral scents, fruity texture in which green apple stands out, followed by wild herbs, basil and rosemary, ginger. In the mouth a perfect synthesis of minerality and sapidity reminiscent of the sea and Karst, good structure and medium softness.

Storage time:

2-5 years old

Vinification

The grapes, carefully selected during the harvest stage to ensure only the best of the terroir of origin, once they arrive at Kante's winemaking facilities, vinify in white, then age one year in barriques and six months in steel containers. At the end of these total 18 months, the wine is bottled without any filtration.
