The Ciavolich family is an ancient family of Bulgarian origin of wool merchants who, in order to escape the advance of the Saracen invasions, fled to Italy to the village of Miglianico (Ch) in about 1560. The transition to landowners had to take place during the 1700s. In 1853 Francesco Ciavolich built the first wine cellar in Miglianico, in front of his residence palace, which is now one of the oldest and most impressive in Abruzzo, where he vinified his own grapes from the surrounding land. Today, Chiara Ciavolich continues to cultivate in order to pass on an ancient history through wine, a red thread linking past, present and future.
