The Schloss Hallburg wine estate, south of the village of Volkach, has been owned by the von Schönborn family since 1806. It is a historic property in Franken (Franconia), the foundation of the castle tower of which dates back to the year 1000. The area is characterised by a climate diametrically opposed to that of other regions known for Riesling production; in this area, Silvaner is the most important grape variety. The wines are characterised by abundant body and structure, the flavours complex and intense, dry and earthy.
