The Montenisa estate is located in the areas surrounding the ancient village of Calino, jewel of Franciacorta, where ancient palaces, convents, abbeys and churches scattered in the green hills and morainic valleys, have seen centuries of history flow by.
In 1158, the village was given by the bishop of Brescia to a local noble family and towards the end of the nineteenth century Lavinia Calini, who married Gaetano Maggi, inherited the property that will always remain part of the heritage of the noble family of Brescia.
This among its descendants also includes Count Aimo, creator and symbolic figure of the legendary car race "MilleMiglia", whose wife, Countess Camilla, who lived in the beautiful Villa Maggi, was a much loved character in Franciacorta.
The vineyards surrounding the villa owned by the Maggi family are the heart of Marchese Antinori Franciacorta production since 1999.
