Masseria Surani was established in Manduria, a historic town and cradle of Primitivo wine where the three Salento provinces meet between the Ionian Sea and expanses of vineyards and olive groves. An iconic farm surrounded by 100 hectares of vineyards was the natural choice to become the second home in southern Italy for the Tommasi family, who were deeply fascinated by Surani, a land enveloped in nature and beauty. Surani is a multifaceted woman, a plural feminine, whose bond with nature and the land is expressed. The fertile, predominantly limestone soil also has a refreshing effect and the permeability of the soil makes it an important water reservoir for plants in the hottest months. The striking red-ochre colour is due to the presence of iron. The Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards are managed with total respect for the natural resources and biodiversity of the area.
