Opus One was born in 1979 from a precious collaboration between the baron-owner of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, one of the most important faces in American oenology, giving rise to one of the most important wineries in Napa Valley. The aim from the outset was to tell the story of the uniqueness and potential of this New World territory through two great icons in the world of wine, i.e. favouring a Bordeaux-style approach, starting with the use of international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The spectacular Oakville estate was built between 1989 and 1991 and is an architectural but also functional jewel, where the most expensive wines in the world were produced.
