Description
The Folonari family began purchasing land in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno in 1999 with the first production of Bolgheri DOC, and Campo al Mare was born, obtained from a selected blend of Cabernet franc and Merlot grapes. The vineyard is located in a parcel with a great wine vocation, and Campo al Mare is distinguished by the original use of Merlot, which gives a softer, more enveloping character to the wine
Organoleptic characteristics:
The 2022 vintage presents itself to the glass with a purple-red colour; on the nose hints of ripe cherries, currants, blackberries, balsamic notes of tobacco, and chocolate. The palate is pleasantly dry, full-bodied and persistent with evident but silky tannins with a sweet tendency. Complex and important.
Storage time:
up to 30 years
Vinification
After about 30 days' maceration at 28°C, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers. The wine is then placed in French oak tonneaux, half new and half 1 year old, where it remains for approximately 16-18 months. Once bottled, the wine matures for a further 12 months.
