A prestigious winery for one of the most appreciated Italian wines. Founded in 1958, today it has 50 members with about 110 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards (1/7 of the area of origin) and controls most of the historical 'cru' of the area. The Produttori del Barbaresco vinifies only Nebbiolo grapes, producing a Barbaresco D.O.C.G., from grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin, and a Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C. with grapes from the same vineyards judged less suitable for producing an ageing wine, simpler and more ready to drink. In the great vintages, 9 Barbaresco wines are produced from specific vineyards and marketed as Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Rabajà, Rio Sordo, Ovello, Montestefano, Pajé, Muncagota, Montefico, Pora, areas that have always been known for producing particularly fine grapes. Since the 2007 vintage, they have been officially recognised by the production regulations as 'Additional Geographical Mentions'. The name of the Cru and of the owners of the vineyards themselves are shown on the numbered labels. In a good year, around 500,000 bottles are thus produced, divided between Barbaresco (40%), Riserva (35%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (25%).

Description

Barbaresco Riserva 'Pajé' is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes, a great native of the Piedmont region. The grapes of this variety are cultivated within the cru that gives the label its name, Pajè, characterised by a clay and limestone soil facing south-east. In the best years, part of the grapes from historical vineyards in the centre of the typical area are vinified separately. The wine thus obtained, having reached its fourth year of refinement, becomes 'Riserva'. It is a Barbaresco of great intensity and depth.
