Winery
Fossacolle is a small jewel-cellar with only 4 hectares of land located in the southern area of Montalcino. It is three generations united by a passion for wine. Marchetti Sergio, owner of the winery, is part of an ancient family whose origins date back to the 18th century. The descendants of this family lived and worked as farmers in the lands of a great and noble lineage. In the early 1980s the owner of these lands, selling the land where the Marchetti family lived, decided to donate the "Podere Fossacolle" to them so in 1984 the winemaking activity began with the first Sangiovese vineyards.
Description
Brunello di Montalcino from the little Tuscan gem Fossacolle is made from Sangiovese Grosso grapes from the oldest vineyards and carefully selected and hand-picked in small cases. This is a great red wine, soft, complex, balanced and very long-lived.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a deep ruby color. The nose has aromas of ripe fruit that are supported on the palate by great body. Remarkable are the tannins, with soft texture and unctuous texture, very long-lived. This wine, of excellent balance, promises with bottle aging the increase of its bouquet; which already presents itself as elegant and complex.
Storage time:
15-25 years old
Vinification
After a cold pre-fermentation of several days, they are vinified at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping over, punching down and delestage allow to optimize extraction from the skins, during alcoholic fermentation.
