Delas Frères is a historic maison in the northern Rhône, founded in 1835, and today considered one of the most prestigious producers of Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie and Cornas wines. It mainly produces Syrah for reds and Marsanne/Roussanne for whites, with a style based on elegance, precision and respect for terroir. It is known for long-lived wines with great personality, among which the Hermitage Les Bessards stands out.

Description

This grand cuvée comes from a single vineyard selection. The grapes come exclusively from the oldest plot in the famous “Les Bessards” area in the heart of the Hermitage slopes. The wine is only produced in exceptional vintages and the quantity is deliberately limited. Grape variety: 100% Syrah.

Organoleptic characteristics:

A wine of great luminosity, with a deep, intense red colour. The nose is distinguished by elegance, with delicate notes of blackberry and violet. The Hermitage “Les Bessards” offers very concentrated fruit and a dense, rich tannic structure, all in a truly remarkable balance.

Vinification

The harvest for “Les Bessards” is carried out entirely by hand, when the grapes reach ideal maturity. Fermentation takes place in traditional open-top concrete tanks, after a couple of days of pre-fermentation maceration at a low temperature.
