Hospices de Nuits Saint Georges Les Didiers 1999 Cuvee Jacques Duret

The Hospices de Nuits wine estate, which today covers 12.4 hectares under vines, almost all of them in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, is to all intents and purposes an integral part of the Hospices de Nuits public health structure that was merged with Hospices Civils de Beaune in 2016. The wine estate has grown steadily over the centuries thanks to donations from the wealthiest local families, most recently by Irène Noblet (a vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin 'Champs-Chenys') and the Jeanniard family (some plots in Nuits). For the Hospices, wine is a fundamental source of economic support and, for 62 years, the Hospices de Nuits charity auction has been held. The entire annual production is auctioned off every second Sunday in March following the grape harvest. The profits from the sale of the wines from the wine estate provide significant support for hospital investments. To pay tribute to the generosity of donors, it was agreed to sell a charity wine each year, called 'Cuvée des Bienfaiteurs', to benefit an association that supports its actions in favour of important public health problems.
