"Quality", "absolute attention to detail", these are the cornerstones on which the philosophy of'company is based. Every choice is extremely important. In no phase of the production process are shortcuts allowed: this is the only way to obtain the best grapes according to the climatic characteristics of each year.
During the harvesting phase, analysis and empirical tests allow to accurately choose the bunches to be picked. The tasting of the grapes allows the best evaluation of the maturation of the tannins and the balance of the bunches, in order to establish the best moment for the harvest and the vinification technique for the grapes of each plot. The grapes undergo a double selection: a first sorting table to verify the quality, then a second control to remove any residual vegetation.
The grapes of each cru ferment separately, as each base wine contributes to the creation of the final blend, by virtue of the specific conditions of the vineyard of origin: combination of soil, climatic exposure and of course type of grape. Only after one year of aging in cask the base wines are blended respecting the two main criteria: the expression of elegance inherent to the spirit of Ornellaia and the style of the vintage.

Il progetto Vendemmia d’Artista celebra il carattere esclusivo di ogni nuova annata di Ornellaia. Ogni anno a partire dall’uscita di Ornellaia 2006, avvenuta a maggio 2009, un artista contemporaneo firma un’opera d’arte e una serie di etichette in edizione limitata, traendo ispirazione da una parola scelta dall’enologo che descrive il carattere della nuova annata. Per la 16ma edizione di Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista, Marinella Senatore, l’artista italiana, interpreta il carattere “La Generosità” di Ornellaia 2021 attraverso il suo linguaggio d’elezione: il collage. LA bottiglia è numerata e firmata personalmente dall’artista. I collezionisti di tutto il mondo si contendono queste bottiglie, alcune delle quali vengono battute all’asta durante un evento annuale di raccolta fondi a sostegno dell’arte.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Intense ruby red color, the nose reveals notes of red fruits, citrus fruits, hints of licorice and Mediterranean scrub. The sip of the wine is enveloping and well proportioned in all of its components: the tannic texture, thick and at the same time silky, fills the palate with elegance and precision.
Storage time:
6-18 years old
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 26-30°C for one week followed by maceration for a total of about 10-15 days. Malolactic fermentation took place mainly in oak barriques (70% new and 30% first passage).
