Description
Ron Zacapa 23 boasts a unique blend of rums from 6 to 23 years old. The first were used to store American whiskies, the second contained sherry and the last Pedro Ximenez wines aged for 21 years in Château Lagrange oak barrels. A label whose secret to success is thus that of double ageing, which contributes to enriching aromas and flavours with remarkable complexity. This new blend is further matured for two years in white oak barrels that previously contained American whisky and Sherry.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Dark amber colour. The nose is intense and reveals notes of candied fruit, dried fruit and chocolate. On the palate, notes of caramelised fruit, plums and sultanas, enriched by smoky and incense notes. The finish is firm and lingering and leaves a lingering sensation.
Storage time:
over 20 years
Vinification
Solera' ageing, in which rums with different profiles and ages are blended and then aged in different barrels. This ageing process takes place at high altitude (2,300 metres). The cool, moist mountain air allows the rum to age slowly and develop its unique taste identity.
