The Anselmets have been pioneers in the rediscovery and enhancement of forgotten native grape varieties such as Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Fumin, Mayolet, and Muscat. But they have also been courageous popularizers of international grape varieties, cultivated and vinified according to an authentic Aosta Valley spirit.
The first known Anselmet was Antoine, a 16th century winemaker. His name appears in the deed of purchase of a vineyard in Introd, a village lying on the left bank of the Dora Baltea, west of Aosta, whose valley, from 1400 onwards, represents the most important wine-growing area of the region.
Since then, the bond with the land and the wines produced here has never abandoned the family. Through the generations and the daily challenges the mountain subjects its inhabitants to, the Anselmet family dedicated their existence to the land and to the rows of vines, handing down an artisan knowledge which, with time, has been enriched by the experiences, the meetings and the knowledge accumulated by its members.
