L'azienda Soldera Case Basse is an estate of more than 23 hectares, 320 meters above sea level, in the western part of Montalcino, a place par excellence for the cultivation of the Sangiovese grape. The history of the Soldera Case Basse winery began in the early 1970s. Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera cultivated the project of producing a natural wine of great quality and knew that they could only achieve it if they found a terroir with certain indispensable characteristics. When they discovered Case Basse, they realized they were in front of what they were looking for: an enchanting estate, which at the time lay uncultivated and abandoned. Immediately sensing the potential of the place and enraptured by the beauty of the landscape, Gianfranco and Graziella decided to establish their winery here and planted their first vines between 1972 and 1973, carefully choosing the plots suitable for Sangiovese. It is thanks to the passion, dedication and care they devoted to those lands if, starting in the mid-1970s, a natural wine of the highest quality, appreciated all over the world, is produced at Case Basse. After the passing of Gianfranco Soldera in February 2019, the family continues the activity in accordance with the founding principles and values of Case Basse. The excellence of the product according to nature, the enhancement of the ecosystem and the garden, the investment in studies and innovation, the support to young researchers, are in fact part of the company's DNA. A footprint that Graziella Soldera, Monica with Paolo, Mauro with Valeria, trace today and will enhance in the future with renewed passion, each enriching it with their own personality.
Description
Soldera Case Basse is a synonym for wines of quality and excellence. Made from the finest Sangiovese grapes. It is a limited and exclusive Tuscan red wine, the result of passionate work aimed at creating a great wine through completely natural winemaking processes.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a ruby red color with garnet highlights. The nose shows aromas of berries, rosemary, pencil shavings and blood orange. In the mouth it is intense and enveloping with a long finish.
Storage time:
over 10 years
Vinification
Once handpicked and harvested, the grapes arrive at the winery inside small crates, an ideal container to avoid crushing, and placed on the sorting table where they are selected by skilled hands. Specialized workers perform a final manual selection. Only the berries that pass all these stages will arrive inside the fermentation vat.
