Since the early 19th century Capri has never hidden its vocation in the art of hospitality. Those who went there found lodging with religious hermits, fishing or farming families. A pioneer in the hotel business was Vincenza Canale, owner of the now famous guesthouse "Mariantonia," who used to offer her guests Limoncello, which she prepared herself. Well-known personalities and assiduous frequenters of the island at the time - such as Ignazio and Arturo Cerio, J. Fersen, Axel Munthe, F. A. Krupp, Amedeo Maiuri and others - would in fact meet at sunset to enjoy the delicious liqueur.
It was in 1988 that his descendants, founded Limoncello di Capri S.r.l., the first company to patent and use the term "limoncello," an evolution of the ancient Capri term "limonillo."
It is according to the ancient family recipe, which has survived intact to this day, that we still produce the world-famous liqueur with artisanal methods and with respect for the traditions and flavors of the island of Capri.
Limoncello di Capri is made exclusively from the infusion in alcohol of Sorrento Lemon peels P.G.I. (Protected Geographical Indication) in absolute compliance with strict technical specifications. With no added colorings, preservatives, stabilizers or flavorings, Limoncello di Capri is 100% natural.
Limoncello di Capri S.r.l. is also the only company in the industry in Italy to adopt a manufacturing process that includes control of the entire production chain, from the lemon to the finished product.
