Since the early nineteenth century Capri has never hidden its vocation in the art of hospitality. Those who went there found lodging with religious hermits, families of fishermen or peasants. A pioneer in the hotel business was Vincenza Canale, owner of the now famous "Mariantonia" boarding house, who used to offer her guests Limoncello, prepared by herself. Famous personages and assiduous frequenters of the island of the epoch - what Ignazio and Arturo Cerio, J. Fersen, Axel Munthe, F. A. Krupp, Amedeo Maiuri and others still - they found themselves in fact, to the sunset, to taste the delicious liqueur. It was in 1988 that his descendants founded Limoncello di Capri S.r.l., the first company to patent and use the term "limoncello", an evolution of the ancient Capri term "limonillo". It is according to the ancient family recipe, arrived intact to our days, that we still produce with artisanal method and respecting the traditions and flavors of the island of Capri, the liquor famous throughout the world. Limoncello di Capri is obtained exclusively from the infusion in alcohol of the peels of Sorrento Lemon PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) in strict compliance with the technical specifications. Without the addition of colorants, preservatives, stabilizers and flavors, Limoncello di Capri is 100% natural. Limoncello di Capri S.r.l. is also the only company in the industry in Italy to adopt a manufacturing process that provides for the control of the entire production chain, from the lemon to the finished product.
