A prestigious winery for one of the most appreciated Italian wines. Founded in 1958, today it has 50 members with about 110 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards (1/7 of the area of origin) and controls most of the historic "cru" of the area. Produttori del Barbaresco makes wine only from Nebbiolo grapes, producing a Barbaresco D.O.C.G., from grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin, and a Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C. with grapes from the same vineyards judged less suitable for making a simpler, more ready-to-drink wine for aging. In the great vintages, 9 Barbaresco wines are produced from specific vineyards and marketed as Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Rabajà, Rio Sordo, Ovello, Montestefano, Pajé, Muncagota, Montefico, and Pora, areas that have always been known for producing particularly fine grapes. Since the 2007 vintage they have been officially recognized by the production regulations as "Additional Geographical Mentions." The name of the Cru and of the owners of the vineyards themselves are shown on the numbered labels. In a good year about 500,000 bottles are thus produced, divided between Barbaresco (40%), Riserva (35%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (25%).
