Andrea Franchetti carries on two viticultural projects different from each other but equally important. The first one was created from nothing at Tenuta di Trinoro, in a remote area occupied by woods and abandoned fields, in the extreme south of Tuscany. However hard and demanding, this project was soon followed by a second one, of equal importance, on the slopes of Mount Etna, which saw the recovery of old abandoned vineyards on the secular terraces of the active Sicilian volcano.
Both projects stand out for their extraordinary complexity and for the extreme diversity of their terroirs. From both estates, Franchetti obtains a rich and diversified portfolio of wines. Each wine expresses the characteristics of the vintage, the specificity of the terroir and the full potential of the varietal used.
In 2012, Carlo Franchetti began making wines from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the high elevations of the hills surrounding the town of San Casciano dei Bagni, and the following year, Sancaba, the first collaboration with his cousin Andrea, was born, aimed at enhancing the richness, depth and uniqueness expressed by this varietal in this particular terroir. In 2014, the Franchetti cousins brought their estates together and formed a new company, Vini Franchetti.
