Andrea Franchetti pursues two different but equally important wine projects. The first was created out of nothing at Tenuta di Trinoro, in a remote area occupied by abandoned woods and fields in the far south of Tuscany. As arduous and challenging as it was, this project was joined shortly thereafter by a second, equally important one on the slopes of Mount Etna, which saw the occurrence of the recovery of old abandoned vineyards on the centuries-old terraces of the active Sicilian volcano.
Both projects stand out for their extraordinary complexity and the extreme diversity of their terroirs. From both estates, Franchetti derives a rich and diverse portfolio of wines. Each wine expresses the characteristics of the vintage, the specificities of the terroir and the full potential of the varietal used.
In 2012, Carlo Franchetti began making wines from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the high elevations of the hills surrounding the town of San Casciano dei Bagni, and the following year saw the birth of Sancaba, the first collaboration with his cousin Andrea, aimed at enhancing the richness, depth and uniqueness expressed by this varietal in this particular terroir. In 2014, the Franchetti cousins brought their estates together and formed a new company, Vini Franchetti.
