Description
Amaro Importante Jefferson with a Mediterranean flavour was born from an ancient recipe devised in 1871 by Captain Jefferson, who survived shipwreck in the waters between Paola and Tropea and found refuge in the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale. This bitter was produced from botanical herbs and spices. It is bergamot, bitter and sweet oranges, rosemary and oregano, the main botanicals cultivated in Calabria, which together with other bittering herbs and spices make The Jefferson natural and unique.

Vinification
Distilleria selects and hand-picks most of the botanicals used, including IGP lemons from Rocca Imperiale, sweet and bitter Bisignano oranges from the family garden, bergamots from Pellaro, oregano from Palombara and rosemary from Bisignano. Everything is processed separately, in a hydro-alcoholic infusion respecting the raw material and seasonality, which is why Jefferson takes more than 11 months to assemble, without ever resorting to artificial flavourings or colourings.
