The production philosophy of the winery is focused on the achievement of a unique goal: to produce great wines from Apulian autochthonous grapes. Most of the vineyards are cultivated with traditional grapes, some of which are dated back to the civilization of Magna Graecia, and strongly rooted in the territory: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano pugliese, Aglianico, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale
Tormaresca winery is made up of two estates located in the most vocated areas of the region's viticultural tradition: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte DOC area, immersed in the wild Murgia of Bari and Masseria Maime in the Salento area, the beating heart of Apulia.
Bocca di Lupo estate is located in the countryside of Minervino Murge, in the Castel del Monte DOC area, at about 250m above sea level. The vicinity of the ancient volcano Vulture, the climate characterized by a remarkable temperature range between day and night and the composition of soils have a remarkable influence on vineyards. Varieties include Aglianico, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fiano pugliese, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale. Masseria Maime is located in one of the most beautiful areas of northern Salento. The winery, which spreads for an area of about 500 hectares (750 acres) of which 350 are planted with vines and 85 with olive trees, develops along the Adriatic coast, thus creating a unique landscape of vineyards which are born among woods and pine forests and get lost as far as the eye can see until they get confused with the sea.
Passion, courage, confidence in the quality potential of Apulia are the elements which pushed Antinori to invest in this region, in particular in the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento.
Description
Bocca di Lupo is the spark which ignited Tormaresca's entrepreneurial and enological dream. The will of rediscovering a noble varietal such as Aglianico by offering a different interpretation of it, but just as authentic, has driven a fifteen years long project. The full maturity of the vineyards allowed the production of deep grapes suitable for the production of a wine having a great aging potential. Bocca di Lupo represents the crowning of a path of research and work which expresses the style we dreamed and imagined when, in 1998, Tormaresca's adventure started.
