The Montanaro distillery found its precursor in Francesco Trussoni, master of Alchemy at Gallo d'Alba. Already in 1885, he had the brilliant intuition to create Grappa di Barolo, the first single-variety grappa in history. In 1922 the winery passed under the guidance of Mario Montanaro and his wife Angela Trussoni who were, with their son Giuseppe, the perfectionists of a discontinuous distillation system powered by steam, unique at that time.
At the end of 2000, Mr. Giuseppe Montanaro, now almost 80 years old, in the absence of direct heirs, decided to sell the Montanaro distillery to a group of entrepreneurs from Alba. Today, thanks to the experience of its collaborators, the Montanaro distillery seeks to position itself among the top players in the distillation world, with products that meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of the market.
Description
Grappa obtained from selected pomace of only nebbiolo da barolo grapes, left to rest in oak barrels, the aroma and taste blend into a soft, velvety product with an unmistakable light straw color.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Pale straw yellow color.
The nose is intense, delicate, layered with soft spicy notes.
Soft structure and intense flavor, persistent, velvety and balanced with harmonious woody notes that blend with elegant floral notes typical of the grape variety of origin.
Storage time:
over 20 years
Vinification
Discontinuous distillation in small copper cauldrons and demethylation with double column.
