The Montanaro distillery found its precursor in Francesco Trussoni, master of Alchemy in Gallo d'Alba. Already in 1885, he had the brilliant intuition to create Grappa di Barolo, the first single-variety grappa in history. In 1922 the company passed under the guidance of Mario Montanaro and his wife Angela Trussoni who, together with their son Giuseppe, were the perfectionists of a discontinuous distillation system powered by steam, unique at that time.
At the end of 2000, Mr. Giuseppe Montanaro, now almost 80 years old, in the absence of direct heirs, decided to sell the Montanaro distillery to a group of entrepreneurs from Alba. Today, thanks to the experience of its collaborators, the Montanaro distillery is trying to place itself among the top players in the distillation world, with products that meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of the market.
