The winery's production philosophy is focused on achieving a single goal: producing great wines from indigenous Apulian grape varieties. Most of the vineyards are cultivated with traditional grapes, some of which date back to the civilisation of Magna Graecia, and are strongly rooted in the territory: Primitivo, Negroamaro, Fiano pugliese, Aglianico, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale
The Tormaresca winery is made up of two estates located in the region's best wine-growing areas: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo in the Castel del Monte DOC area, immersed in the wild Murgia of Bari, and Masseria Maime in the Salento area, the beating heart of Puglia.
The Bocca di Lupo estate is located in the countryside of Minervino Murge, in the Castel del Monte DOC area, about 250 m above sea level. The proximity of the ancient volcano Vulture, the climate characterised by a considerable temperature range between day and night and the composition of the soil have a considerable influence on the vineyards. The varieties present are Aglianico, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fiano pugliese, Nero di Troia and Moscato Reale. Masseria Maime is located in one of the most beautiful areas of the upper Salento. The farm, which covers an area of approximately 500 hectares, 350 of which are planted with vines and 85 with olive groves, stretches along the Adriatic coast, creating a unique landscape of vineyards that grow amidst woods and pine forests and fade into the sea.
Passion, courage and faith in the quality potential of Apulia are the elements that drove the Antinori family to invest in this region, particularly in the areas of Castel del Monte and Salento.
Description
The name Locone takes its inspiration from the lake of the same name, an artificial reservoir located in the territory of Minervino Murge; over the years, this place has become a beautiful hydrological basin inhabited by lacustrine fauna and flora, which is fundamental in giving life to a karst, white and “poor” area such as the Upper Murgia. Obtained from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes under organic management.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Lively ruby red colour. On the nose, intense aromas of currants and berries combined with balsamic sensations of Mediterranean scrub and wild rocket; delicate and never invasive notes of roasted coffee and cocoa complete the bouquet. The palate is fresh, flowing, with soft, silky tannins. A wine characterised by excellent drinkability and a finish characterised by the sapidity typical of the soils of this area.
Storage time:
3-10 years
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature between 26 and 28°C
