The Abbona family produces high quality wines, continuing, year after year, the work begun by the Marquises of Barolo more than two centuries ago
There is a thread that binds people, vineyards, cellars and bottles: the knowledge and passion to produce wines that respect the unique characteristics of this wonderful territory with a very high wine vocation.
Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are the faithful interpreters of the diversity of places, vineyards and vines.
They rigorously respect and preserve their typicality by vinifying grapes from their own vineyards and from vine growers selected over many years, favouring the location and cultivation capacity of the individual vineyards.
Description
Ruvei is a blend of Barbera (85%) and Nebbiolo (15%) grapes, the autochthonous vines par excellence of the Piedmont Langhe, cultivated in Guyot-trained vineyards on soils composed mainly of clay and limestone, with the presence of white marl. The unique characteristics of these soils give the wine a remarkably vigorous structure, but with a balanced character
Organoleptic characteristics:
The colour is deep ruby red, with purple hues. The bouquet is fresh, with fruity notes reminiscent of blackberry, red fruit jam and spicy hints of vanilla and toasted hazelnut. The taste is full and enveloping, with a barely noticeable acidulous streak. Well blended with the remaining sensations is the woody note.
Storage time:
over 5 years
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with 8-day maceration on the skins
