Winery
The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of viticulture for more than six hundred years: ever since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Winemakers.
For 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory.
Each vintage, each soil, each idea is a new beginning, a new search for higher and higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "the ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".
Description
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a part of Syrah for a rose wine having strong and intense aromas, typical of the Bolgheri territory. The vineyard, as well as the wine, takes its name from the bandit "Scalabrone" who lived in this area in the early 1800's and is located on silty-clayey soils of mainly alluvial origin, rich in pebbles.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Scalabrone 2022 shows a slightly off peony pink color. The nose shows intense red berry fruit notes, including cherry and pomegranate, accompanied by floral sensations of rose petals and hawthorn. The palate is pleasantly fruity, delicate and characterized by a nice freshness and persistence.
Storage time:
0-2 years old
Vinification
Grapes were destemmed, gently crushed and transferred to the press where they underwent a short maceration of about 2-4 hours at low temperature. After pressing, the must reached stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 16° C.
