Kamara is an eleven-hectare vineyard located in Northern Greece in a hilly rural area 24 km from Thessaloniki that enjoys a semi-mountainous climate. The family-run farm is managed by Dimitrios Kioutsoukis and his wife Ellie together with their five children. Today, their 28-year-old daughter Stavroula, who in addition to being an agronomist and oenologist is also an artist and author of the wine labels, their son Apostolos, who is finishing his studies in agricultural engineering, and Athanasios work there. The basic rule is to do as little treatment as possible, trying not to subvert the natural balance. To obtain authentic and vibrant wines in small productions, with as little intervention as possible, expressing the terroir and the winemaker's philosophy with a broad spectrum of flavours and a complex aromatic profile that constantly evolves and changes.

Description

The Shadow Play white wine from the Kamara estate is produced from Assyrtiko 100% grapes, an indigenous Greek white grape species native to the island of Santorini and characterised by great resistance to disease and climatic conditions. The vines grow at 140 metres above sea level on soils composed of clay, silt and loam in the northern part of Greece nicknamed Greek Macedonia. Shadow Play is a wine of character, forthright and decisive, deeply Mediterranean.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Brilliant golden yellow colour. On the nose, the bouquet is broad and complex, with notes of Williams pear, quince, bay leaf, sage, citrus and brackish hints. It moves sinuously in the mouth, combining more opulent traits with an unsettling freshness, dry and direct, perfectly balanced between freshness and savouriness. A wine with a taste of the sea.

Storage time:

2-5 years

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and are cold macerated for two days. The must ferments spontaneously in steel with only indigenous yeasts and no filtration. The wine matures for 3 months on the fine lees in steel tanks. At bottling, the wine is neither filtered nor clarified.
