The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of viticulture for more than six hundred years: ever since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Winemakers. For 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory. Each vintage, each soil, each idea is a new beginning, a new search for higher and higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "the ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".

Description

Tenuta Tignanello's Solaia is an excellent red wine produced from the finest Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Sangiovese 20% and Cabernet Franc 5% grapes. Produced only in exceptional vintages and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983,1984 and 1992. This is a rich, refined and enveloping wine with silky tannins that support a long, lingering finish.

Organoleptic characteristics:

It has a ruby red color. The nose is striking for its intensity and complexity. It presents itself with notes of berries in particular blueberry, raspberry and currant alternate with sweet hints of plum, black cherry and fresh sensations of mint, myrtle, licorice and floral nuances of lavender; complete the rich bouquet sweet and well-integrated notes of cocoa powder and dried fruit alternating with spicy hints of cloves and pleasant sensations of pink pepper. On the palate, the entry is rich and enveloping, then stretching out in a refined manner, with silky tannins supporting a long, lingering finish. In the aftertaste the menthol, licorice and chocolate notes, perceived on the nose, return.

Storage time:

over 10 years

Vinification

During fermentation and maceration, great care was taken to maintain the correct balance between the fruit and the quality of the tannin so as to give the wine sweetness and fragrance as well as identity and character. Immediately after racking, malolactic fermentation was started, which, in barriques, enhanced the complexity and pleasantness of the wine.
