Lovingly defined by Veronelli as "the farmer", Livio Felluga was a courageous, visionary, enlightened man, always with an eye towards his family, his land, his hills. It is easy to understand how the history of Livio Felluga and of his wine is intertwined with the history of that particular land which surrounds the extreme north-eastern part of the Adriatic Sea, the point of contact between the Mediterranean Sea and Central Europe. It is a history of borders that have changed many times, of empires that have disappeared, of past wars... of people who have stopped here. It is the story of a man who lived through two world wars, first in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then in the young Kingdom of Italy, who lived on the rocky coast of the Istrian peninsula and in the Grado lagoon. Livio Felluga moved to Friuli at the end of the 1930s and settled in the gentle foothills of the Rosazzo hills. His dream of producing wine from the hills was interrupted by the call to the front. As if that was not enough, the return to Italy was not easy for the veterans of the Second World War: physical, political and ethnic boundaries had changed, changed forever, just like the agricultural and social landscape of the hills. The farming population was leaving, further impoverishing the land and abandoning the crops, values and traditions linked to it. Livio Felluga had to undertake a new battle to resurrect the hill, convinced that only the rebirth of quality farming could bring life back to the Friulian countryside. With great courage he started restoring the ancient vineyards of Rosazzo and planting new ones, introducing innovative ideas and methods. A hard work, done with great stubbornness and passion that will lead him over the years to create one of the most beautiful and significant wineries of the Belpaese, acquiring the title of refounder of Friuli's viticultural tradition and reference actor of the Italian enological renaissance.

Description

Terre Alte was released in 1981 and it is considered one of the most prestigious Italian white wines. The harmonic blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes, cultivated in Rosazzo in the historical Terre Alte vineyards, creates an elegant and rich wine with intense fruity and floral aromas. It is a wine of great structure which, thanks to aging, acquires a tertiary evolution of remarkable complexity.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Intense straw yellow, vibrant and luminous. The nose offers floral sensations of orange blossom, gardenia, jasmine, lily and calla flowers, enriched with citrus notes of bergamot, candied orange peel and hints of ripe fruit such as apricot and white peach. Seductive tropical scents such as mango, lychee and papaya are wrapped in scents of sage, basil and Mediterranean scrub. A beautiful spice of white pepper and ginger completes the bouquet. The sip is persuasive and complex, lively and balanced, distinguished by the harmony between volume and acidity, pulp and tension. Floral aromas of elder flowers are followed by fruity aromas of white peach, citrus fruits, candied citron and percocado to close with notes of sage, sage and nettle. Final spicy, sapid and persistent.

Storage time:

4-5 years

Vinification

Delicately destemmed and left to macerate for a short period, it is then softly pressed, and the must thus obtained is clarified through decantation. Fermentation at controlled temperature follows in small oak barrels.
