The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask Astucciato
Cellar
The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid as the Elchies Distillery. Located near Easter Elchies House, in Craigellachie, in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was one of the first to open after the legalisation of distilleries in the early 1800s and in 1892, following a change of ownership, took the name Macallan-Glenlivet, later changed to just Macallan. Over the years, the distillery has become famous for its ageing in former sherry casks, for the first bottlings dedicated to Italian importers and for the glorious exports of the 1970s and 1980s, gaining the fame that today makes Macallan the king of single malt whiskies: a true status symbol in the world of spirits.
Description
The Macallan 12 Years Old Double Cask is a Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from The Macallan Distilleries. It is a beautifully balanced single malt with aromas of honey, citrus and ginger. The casks mature sherry wine for at least two years before being used to age the whisky. It is a whisky where the sweetness of the vanilla from the wood binds with the spice of the European oak, leaving room for a long, velvety finish.
