The maison was founded in 1760 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a grand cru village on the Côte des Blancs, by François Delamotte. Champagne Delamotte works this enchanting terroir to cultivate chardonnay, the only white grape variety used to produce champagne.Bernard, began his career with his brother at Delamotte before taking over in 1949 the management of the Laurent-Perrier house bought between the two world wars by their mother. Since 1997, Didier Depond has managed both champagne houses: Delamotte and Salon. He develops the image and reputation of the two brands in more than fifty countries, making Delamotte's motto "Vive et me Ama" resonate more than ever. For over 260 years, we have been developing four different cuvées, a small range that offers amateurs and experts alike a clear understanding of the art of champagne. Delamotte Champagnes are distinguished by their texture, delicacy and exceptional character.
Description
Made from Chardonnay Grand Cru, Delamotte's Blanc de Blancs presents absolute purity. Blanc de Blancs is a mineral Champagne, with a chalky sensation obtained thanks to a modest addition of reserve wine (10% maximum). This particular note is the very essence of the Delamotte vineyards and its Chardonnays, which grow in pure chalk soil. Yes, the wines can be a bit austere when young, which is why the maturation on the lees - much longer than the statutory fifteen months - extends to four or five years before disgorgement. Ageing after disgorgement continues to refine the finesse and elegance of this cuvée.
