Gaja wines have long been an integral part of Made in Italy, a recognizable brand and object of desire for all wine lovers. Angelo Gaia is a star on the world wine scene. A producer who is credited with transforming not only the international image and reputation of his Piedmont region, but also that of Italy. He has greatly influenced the processes of grape growing, winemaking, distribution and marketing. Gaia is one of the few brands that can compete with the best producers in Bordeaux and Burgundy in both quality and price.
The Gaja family settled in Piedmont in the mid-17th century. Five generations have taken turns making wine since Giovanni Gaja founded the winery in Barbaresco, in the heart of the Langhe, in 1859.
Today Gaja owns about 250 hectares of vineyards in the provinces of Tuscany and Piedmont, producing about 350,000 bottles annually.
