The beginning of the history of the Maison dates back to 1812, it was created by André Michel Pierlot, it would take the name Veuve Laurent-Perrier when Mathilde Emilie Perrier, widow of Eugène Laurent decided to unite the two surnames while ensuring its development. Eugénie Hortense Laurent, her daughter, inherited the Maison in 1925 and gave it to Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, née Lanson, in 1939.
In 1939, Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, a widow and mother of four, anxious to secure their future, purchased Domaine Laurent-Perrier.
During World War II his two eldest sons joined the resistance, Bernard was at Abbot Pierre's side.
In 1945 Bernard de Nonancourt began a demanding apprenticeship in all phases of the profession from vineyard to cellar before being appointed in October 1948, at the age of 28, president and managing director. The Maison then employed about 20 people and sold 80,000 bottles.
Driven by a passion for champagne, a respect for traditional values and, above all, for men, Bernard de Nonancourt instills in Laurent-Perrier independence of spirit and creative daring.
He established privileged relationships with winemakers; under his leadership, Laurent-Perrier, in just 40 years, became a true innovator in Champagne. He created the Laurent-Perrier style: freshness, finesse, elegance and developed a unique range of champagnes that are exported worldwide to more than 160 countries.
