The Abbona family produces high quality wines, continuing, year after year, the work begun by the Marquises of Barolo more than two centuries ago There is a thread that binds people, vineyards, cellars and bottles: the knowledge and passion to produce wines that respect the unique characteristics of this wonderful territory with a very high wine vocation. Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are the faithful interpreters of the diversity of places, vineyards and vines. They rigorously respect and preserve their typicality by vinifying grapes from their own vineyards and from vine growers selected over many years, favouring the location and cultivation capacity of the individual vineyards.

Description

The grapes come from vineyards endowed with soils particularly rich in clay and limestone, which, to the eye, appear as Terre Bianche. This type of soil, which is very compact and impermeable, forces the vines to root deep down in search of water. The result is particularly sparse clusters with small berries that give the wines an abundance of mineral salts, trace elements and a rich heritage of tannins, capable of ensuring great longevity.

Organoleptic characteristics:

The colour is an intense garnet red, gradually permeated with orange reflections over the years. The bouquet is intense with clean scents of violets, roses and spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, which evolve into tobacco, leather and truffle as time passes. The flavour is elegant, dry, austere but velvety, harmonious, enveloping, with abundant tannins, well expressed, but soft and pleasant.

Storage time:

9-25 years

Vinification

Gentle crushing and destemming; temperature-controlled fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks. Maceration on the skins with periodic soft pumping over for about 10 days. Malolactic fermentation in vitrified cement vats at a controlled temperature of around 22°.
