The history of Château Rauzan-Sègla, Grand Cru Classé began in the second half of the 17th century when Pierre de Rauzan, one of the pioneers of the oenological revolution in the Médoc as well as a wine merchant and director of Château Latour and Château Margaux, bought the Gassies estate, and subsequently some adjoining vineyards. In the 350 years of its history, the château has changed its name on several occasions: during the French Revolution, it adopted the name Château Rauzan-Sègla following the union of the de Rauzan family with the Ségla family; while at the beginning of the 20th century, the name Rauzan was changed to Rausan by the then owners, the Cruse family, to the extent that it is possible to find labels on vintages prior to 1994 on which both the Z and S versions appear. In 1855, when the first classification of crus was created, Château Rauzan-Ségla was included in the Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. In 1994, the Maison CHANEL acquired the property, thus beginning a new chapter in the company's history. Today, the 70 hectares of Château Rauzan-Ségla, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, reflect the geological and pedological diversity of the Margaux appellation.

Description

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2ème G. C. Margaux AOC is a great and fascinating red wine from the Bordeaux region of France. The wine was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Merlot (29%), Petit Verdot (2%) and Cabernet Franc (1%) grapes. It is a full-bodied, dense and precise wine on the palate with an explosive finish.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Notes of black berry fruit and spices emerge on the nose together with hints of incense, roasted coffee beans, nutmeg and liquorice. Full-bodied, dense and precise on the palate, it is characterised by elegant and precise tannins and great balance.
