Di Majo Norante is a'winery that has been producing its wines exclusively from the 123 hectares of the ancient feud of the Marquis Norante di Santa Cristina in Campomarino since the 19th century. The oenological philosophy of the Di Majo Norante estate respects the traditional approach to vine cultivation and wine production, in an attempt to preserve all the characteristics of Mediterranean grape varieties. Masseria di Majo Norante is located north of the Gargano, in contrada Ramitelli, in the countryside of Campomarino, where the clayey, partly sandy soil and the summer breeze combine to create a particularly favourable habitat. Alessio di Majo Norante, a stubborn and countercultural winemaker, has sacrificed productivity and standardisation of taste to the constant pursuit of quality and typicality, in the conviction that southern vines are better suited to the soil and climatic conditions of the Molise countryside. The experimentation with these vines and the good results achieved have encouraged the winery to persevere in the courageous choice that allows it to produce great wines that respond perfectly to the complexity of contemporary tastes.

Description

Don Luigi Riserva is a great red wine from Molise obtained from the pure selection of the best Montepulciano grapes, in the Martarosa area, on mainly calcareous soils at about 100 metres above sea level and vinified traditionally with long contact of the must with the marc and matured in small oak barrels.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Intense garnet red in colour with violet reflections, it is a rich, intense wine with great harmony and a perfect blend of ripe fruit flavours evoking undergrowth, plum, hints of toasted wood and vanilla. On the palate, it is striking for its powerful structure, characterised by full and voluminous tannins, which contribute to a persistent finish; the sip is characterised by a slight sapid and fresh vein, which makes for a pleasant drinking experience.

Vinification

After the grapes are harvested, they are pressed, and the must remains in contact with the marc for a long time. This is followed by ageing, first for 12 months in barriques, and then, after bottling, for 6 months in glass.
