It all started in 2004 with the purchase of a small vineyard in the countryside of Manduria of 1.30 ha.
Right from the start, the company's mission was to produce wines from vineyards 50 to 90 years old, bred using the Apulian alberello system, with great personality and a strong territorial identity. Today, the company owns about 14.5 ha.
The Es, Primitivo di Manduria Doc, is immediately noticed by wine and food journalists and passionate bloggers ... it divides the critics, the Es is either loved or hated.
From the 2004 vintage onwards, Gianfranco Fino won the most important national awards, even bringing the title of Gambero Rosso Viticulturist of the Year to Apulia in 2010, an award that had never come before in central and southern Italy (other winners Josko Gravner, Elio Altare, Romano Dal Forno, Marinella Camerani).
Food and wine guides unanimously buy an essay award Gianfranco Fino Viticoltore the title of best winery in Apulia, with great prestige for the region and the Manduria area in particular.
Es 2008 was also selected for the G8 Summit of Heads of State held in L'Aquila and was the wine of choice, paired with cheese, for the private banquet of Queen Margaret II of Denmark on her 70th birthday.
Gianfranco Fino is also one of the founding members of the Accademia dell'Alberello.
The association deals with the protection of this form of vine cultivation, so representative of our territory since the times of ancient Greece.
The company, thanks to the visibility it has achieved at international level, is a destination for tourists and enthusiasts from all over the world. Last year, it was also the subject of a study by three Australian technicians, who were studying aridoculture techniques.
Numerous articles have been written in Italian and foreign newspapers, such as Gamberorosso, Bibenda, Wine News, Cucina e Vini, Corriere della Sera, Wemag, Vinum (a German magazine), various Danish magazines, and the Japanese food and wine magazine.
Description
Jo Negroamaro Salento IGT 2023 is an exceptional wine from Puglia by Gianfranco Fino with great personality. 'Jo' from mar Jonio, the sea that washes the coast of Manduria.
Jonico is also one of the synonyms for Negramaro, an indigenous grape variety par excellence of the Greater Salento area.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Dark ruby red, the nose expresses an olfactory profile of great varietal adherence. Fruity notes, even jammy ones, are flanked by floral and spicy scents in a unique chase, traced by clear hints of Mediterranean scrub. In the mouth it is soft, enveloping, well balanced thanks to a freshness that recalls the next elegant sip. It closes with a very long finish, with an unforgettable flavour.
