The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of viticulture for more than six hundred years: ever since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Guild of Winemakers.
For 26 generations, the family has always managed this activity directly, making innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory.
Each vintage, each soil, each idea is a new beginning, a new search for higher and higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "the ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".
Description
Santa Pia comes from the 15 hectares vineyard located in the homonymous village on the cliffs below Montepulciano. The particular soil, rich in skeleton, frank sandy, follows the will of the family to create an elegant but at the same time classic expression of Sangiovese, capable of transmitting the great recognizability of the historical production area. The first vintage produced of Santa Pia was 2001.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Santa Pia 2017 shows an intense ruby red color. The nose immediately tells about the vintage: pleasant sensations of ripe red fruit and plum jam combine with aromas of tobacco and cloves. On the palate it is elegant, fine, characterized by a good freshness and enveloping, soft and silky tannins.
Destemming and gentle crushing in stainless steel; alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature and maceration at a temperature of 26-28 °C; malolactic fermentation in tonneaux
