The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of wine-making for more than six hundred years: ever since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385.
For 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this activity with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory.
Every vintage, every soil, every idea is a new beginning, a new search for ever higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".
Description
Santa Pia comes from the 15-hectare vineyard located in the village of the same name on the crags below Montepulciano. The particular soil, rich in skeleton, sandy loam, supports the family's desire to create an elegant yet classic expression of Sangiovese, capable of conveying the great recognisability of the historic production area. The first vintage produced of Santa Pia was 2001.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Santa Pia 2017 has an intense ruby red colour. The nose immediately tells of the vintage: pleasant sensations of ripe red fruit and plum jam combine with aromas of tobacco and cloves. On the palate it is elegant, fine, marked by good freshness and enveloping, soft and silky tannins.

Destemming and gentle crushing in stainless steel; temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation and maceration at a temperature of 26-28 °C; malolactic fermentation in tonneaux
