Cellar

Borgogno, Barolo's most historic winery, was founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno. In 2008, the Farinetti family bought Borgogno, vowing to safeguard the traditions of this historic winery. Even today, the underground cellars represent a rare historical memory of the Langa, and the wines are produced according to tradition: long spontaneous fermentations without the use of selected yeasts in cement tanks, and long ageing strictly in large Slavonian oak barrels. The vineyards are cultivated in Barolo, Madonna di Como and in the Colli Tortonesi in full respect of the land. Today Borgogno continues to be an expression of a territory, and of tradition and history, but always with an eye to the future.

Description

From the vineyards of the Bardot area comes this drinkable red wine, at an altitude of around 300 metres above sea level. The Nino Costa winery is a page of Roero history, which is told in the faces of the generations that have made the land of vines and wine their life. It is a family that has interpreted a corner of Piedmont while maintaining a strongly personal character, immune to historical change. It is an expression of territory played with cheerfulness and refinement of details, a witness passed from father to son and today in the hands of Alessandro, a creative smile and joie de vivre that is mirrored and told in his wines.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Cherry red colour. The nose has notes of lady's lipstick and morello cherry. In the mouth it rotates well, mixing the slight tannicity with the warmth of the alcohol and the soft presence of yellow-fleshed fruit. The consistency of the aftertaste is remarkable.

Storage time:

3-4 years

Vinification

Vinification takes place in steel vats, using the emerged cap system, and maceration of the marc lasts between 5 and 7 days. The fermentation temperature is controlled and maintained at around 25°/27° C.
