Cellar
Borgogno, Barolo's most historic winery, was founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno. In 2008, the Farinetti family bought Borgogno, vowing to safeguard the traditions of this historic winery.
Even today, the underground cellars represent a rare historical memory of the Langa, and the wines are produced according to tradition: long spontaneous fermentations without the use of selected yeasts in cement tanks, and long ageing strictly in large Slavonian oak barrels. The vineyards are cultivated in Barolo, Madonna di Como and in the Colli Tortonesi in full respect of the land. Today Borgogno continues to be an expression of a territory, and of tradition and history, but always with an eye to the future.
Description
The 'No Name' wine is a full-bodied red from the Borgogno winery. It is a wine that has been produced from pure Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards around Barolo. Borgogno's 'No Name' started out as Barolo. However, it was later 'downgraded' to Langhe Nebbiolo DOC to a 'No Name' wine. This is a protest label against the excessive bureaucracy in the wine world.
