Description
A special selection of Rubesco from its first harvest in 1964 from Vigna Monticchio, it is Lungarotti's flagship wine in the world. Considered among the best Italian reds, this wine is a profound expression of Umbria, its hills, its people with a unique balance of power and elegance.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Colour: intense ruby red, with violet hues.
Nose: elegant and complex, reminiscent of sour cherry; delicate hints of violets and refined woody hints (cocoa, coffee); spicy finish of pepper and cloves.
Taste: right from the attack it is deep, harmonious and well-balanced in structure; it presents a complex and slightly balsamic fruit; the texture of the tannin is enveloping, with hints of liquorice, jam and a long finish that heralds a delicate minerality and a spicy finish.
Storage time:
if well preserved, it has a life span that can easily exceed 50 years.
Vinification
fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature (26°) with maceration on the skins for 25-28 days;
