The story of the Poli family of Schiavon is the story of many families from the Veneto region who settled on the Asiago plateau in the late Middle Ages to clear and cultivate the land. Families that towards the end of the 19th century descended to the plains, where it was easier to conduct productive and commercial activities. This is what the Poli family did, and in the space of five hundred years, from their native Gomarolo, they moved three times, covering a total of eighteen kilometres, to get to Schiavon, where they still reside today. A craft distillery founded in 1898, it is the only Italian distillery selected by Lonely Planet as one of the 10 craft distilleries in the world worth visiting.

Description

GioBatta Poli opened the 'Al Cappello' inn near the Schiavon station in 1885. Passengers waited for the Vaca Mora, the steam train, sipping a drop of bitter. Sometimes even the engineer would come in. A few drops later, in 1889, a distillery was established on the premises of the inn. Balsamic like the herbal teas of a herbalist's shop. A bitter liqueur with a natural infusion of plants, herbs and flowers with digestive properties.
