the symbol of excellence of Chianti Classico, is located in one of the most beautiful wine areas of Tuscany, near Florence. At the head of the winery today we find Francesco Rossi Ferrini who purchased La Sala in 2014, thus concluding an important agronomic project - the union of the two wineries "La Sala" and "Il Torriano" with lands historically suited to viticulture.
Francesco, after having bought La Sala, has started a very important work of modernization in the winery and in the vineyard, converting the winery to organic and sustainable agriculture. The vineyards of the winery extend for 32 hectares and are located between 150 and 350 meters above sea level. La Sala del Torriano produces no more than 50,000 bottles per year, the rest of the production is sold in bulk. In the winery's portfolio there are four important red wines: Toscana IGT Campo all'Albero, Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Torriano and Vin Santo del Chianti Classico, produced with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes.
Tuscany IGT Campo all'Albero Grapes: 50% merlot, 50% cabernet sauvignon from hand selected grapes. This excellent wine has a deep ruby color, almost garnet, the nose shows valuable notes of ripe fruit, almost cooked, such as plums, black cherries, blueberries and blackberries. Intense bouquet of spices, black pepper, incense, leather and nutmeg which envelop the palate thanks to a ripe, soft and full bodied tannin. Chianti Classico DOCG Grapes: 95% sangiovese, 5% merlot The wine has a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. Surprisingly intense and inviting, with a bouquet of small ripe red fruits, plum, bergamot zest and floral hints, violet and elder. In the mouth is rotund and crisp, with harmony it brings back to the palate all those typical aromas of Sangiovese appreciated by the nose. Intense and easy to drink at the same time. Chianti Classico DOCG Reserve Grapes: 90% sangiovese, 10% cabernet sauvignon The wine has a deep ruby red color, on the nose it shows a dense and intense texture of floral and spicy aromas, bergamot zest, black pepper, leather, lots of red and black berried fruit and an enveloping finish with balsamic notes of mint and eucalyptus. The palate offers the same aromatic complexity enhanced by a pleasant minerality and dense, soft and ripe tannins. Perfect in combination with red meats and game. Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, Il Torriano Grapes: 100% hand-picked sangiovese This great wine has a bright ruby color, rich bouquet on the nose of ripe black cherry, underbrush, rosehips, plums, bergamot zest and blackberry jam. Intense and smooth at the same time, thanks to ripe tannins that gently envelop the palate. Wine that exalts the characteristics of Sangiovese, with a great structure and ease of drinking. Vin Santo of Chianti Classico Grapes: Trebbiano and Malvasia The wine has a golden yellow color with amber reflections. The nose shows a rich bouquet of honey, dried fruit and apricot. To the palate is sweet and velvety. Vin Santo della Sala is a sweet meditation wine produced with Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes, it represents a traditional production of Chianti. The artwork on the label was created by Silvano Campeggi, painter and famous poster artist, known for having painted, among others, the posters of movies such as Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Singing in the Rain, An American in Paris, West Side Story, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Winners and Losers, Exodus and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
