There is a thread that binds people, vineyards, cellars and bottles: the knowledge and passion to produce wines that respect the unique characteristics of this wonderful territory with a very high wine vocation.
Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are the faithful interpreters of the diversity of places, vineyards and vines.
They rigorously respect and preserve their typicality by vinifying grapes from their own vineyards and from vine growers selected over many years, favouring the location and cultivation capacity of the individual vineyards.
Description
Peiragal is an old Piedmontese dialect term, which identifies hills of good slope consisting of large formations of very compact clayey limestone soil with large stones. These conditions limit the absorption of rain and favour a very deep rooting of the vines, in search of the humidity that rises, by capillarity, from the deep layers. The result is the production of sparse clusters and, therefore, of a very structured wine, with moderate acidity, a well-balanced alcoholic presence and sweet tannins, never too prominent.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Intense, brilliant ruby red colour with garnet edges.
Fresh, lively bouquet, with distinct hints of blackcurrants, wild berries, toasted hazelnuts and vanilla.
The taste is elegant, immediately pleasant, balanced and harmonious, with soft, enveloping tannins. The spicy and woody notes blend perfectly.
Storage time:
4-5 years
Vinification
Gentle crushing and destemming; temperature-controlled fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks.
Maceration on the skins with periodic soft pumping over for about 9 days at 28-30°.
Malolactic fermentation in vitrified cement vats at a controlled temperature of around 22°.
